Pioneer Stereo Problem

I have a 1988 RX7 convertible with a factory installed Pioneer CD/Cassette
AM/FM stereo. The CD player and cassette player stopped working at the same
time. I'm wondering if they don't both use the same motor and the motor is
shot. They both will eject, just not play. Any comments?
Also, my passenger door panel speaker distorts at low frequency. I think
it may just be loose. Does anyone know if the speaker cover can be removed
somehow or does the entire door panel have to be removed?
THANKS for any comments!

I have a 90 vert with the factory pioneer stereo cd/tape. My cd player works but my tape does not. If you are mechanically inclined, take your cd player out and take the cover off of it. you can some what take it appart and spray some duster in it, you know key board cleaner, compressed air. atleast thats what I did and my cd player started workin, couldnt get the tape player to work though. As far as your speaker, take the door panel off.

Thanks 421. I figured as much with the door panel. Just thought maybe that speaker
cover might pop off some how.
My CD and Cassette stopped working at the same exact time after never having an issue.
Looks like an adventure. Thanks for your thoughts!

does the cd spin at all. or it just ejects it. because some newer cd's wont play. I have alot of older cd's that ive had for 10 years or so that play fine and some new ones that have trouble playing, also burnt cd's will not work.

well anyway good luck.

Pioneer Stereo & door woofers

Thanks littlebit421. After taking apart the center dash to access the stereo i realized there were no fuse or wiring issues. So, I tried the compressed air thru the CD slot and it worked. I believe the motor is shot in the cassette. Will take it apart and see if the motor can be replaced. Got the passenger door panel off and sure enough the surround was bad on the woofer. Got it fixed for $30. Now the driver's door speaker went bad for the same reason.
What do you know about the backup light switch that's mounted to the transmission? I have had two go out and I know it is the switch again. Have you ever replaced yours?

My reverse lights dont work either but I havent messed with it. Just back into parking spaces all the time, just kidding. Im not sure why you have had two go out. Arw u using oem parts. Maybe its somethin shorting the switch and burning it up after a while.

Well congrats on getting your stereo to work and good luck on the reverse lights. Post a pic of your vert. Id like to see it

Mine has no sound 1988 RX7 Convertible

My stereo has failed. Its a Pioneer factory installed system. Here are the symptoms:

1. No sound whatsoever
2. When turning car on radio reverts to lowest AM station. I can swap
to FM and tune to other stations but when car is turned back on its back to AM setting.
3. Power and surround buttons on console do not light up when pressed
4. Audio fuse is ok but we replaced it anyway but still nothing
5. I have not dared try to put cd or cassette into the unit to test
that for fear they will get stuck and make things worse. The cd player has been acting up for years so I just don't use it .

Any ideas would be appreciated
'
Thanks
