overwhelming smell of fuel, whining noise....

and air/fuel ratio gauge going up down, up, down, and so on.

These are the symptoms I am experiencing with my non sequential FD3S, along with flooding.

I can start the car fine, It seems to idle ok etc but ive noticed the air/fuel ratio gauge going up and down, and when i give it beans it seems to overfuel and really stink!!!

I first noticed a strange whining noise coming from what i thought was the engine bay?

also once i get the bad smell of fuel, stop the car, then try to start it again 30mins later its flooded and i have to pull the fuel pump relay.

What do you think this could be guys?

thanks

come on guys?

whining fuel pump mean its broke? or could a leaking injector cause the fuel pump to over work, making it whine?

Ideas please

If the noise is coming from the engine bay it's not the fp...that's in the tank. Could be injectors. What other envgine mods? What have you checked?

Ive checked most things apart from injectors. not sure how to check fuel pump?

just changed spark plugs as i thought this could be the problem. anywayz i took out 4x 9's and put the right ones in 2x 7's (leading) and 2x 9's (trailing).

I still have the problem. now there isnt a smell of fuel but the air/fuel ratio bunces up and down and a whining noise is present. Im pretty sure its coming from the rear, although its hard to tell with such a loud exhaust.

THIS ONLY HAPPENS AT WHEN I APPLY REALLY LIGHT THROTTLE - 2000-2600 RPM

please help.

could it be a dodgy remap?

The flooding may be a leaky injector or your secondary ports stuck open .... you need to check the fuel lines that run from the fire wall to underneath the intake manifold ... that means removing the uppermost intake manifold ...

Is it a narrowband or wideband afr gauge? Narrowband ones bounce from right to lean when in closed loop. Including the low rpm, light throttle you are describing. When you get into the boost, the AFR's get higher than a narrowband can accurately measure. So it just pegs rich.

did you ever figure this out?
