Overheating problems

so i just replaced the clutch in my 86 rx7 and now im having overheating problems.... could it just be a thermostat issue or is there a possibility to install the clutch and tranny wrong so that its creating friction? i need help im at a brick wall.

Doubtful it has anything to do with the clutch.

However, it would help if you explained a little about how the car is overheating. Overheating in traffic? On the highway? Regardless? Violent overheating? What position on the gauge? How long does it take to overheat?

This info will help as well: http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/cooling.htm

Be sure you buy a direct OEM replacement... You'll regret it if you don't.

I was wondering about my thermostat being stuck. Where is the needle for the temperature gauge supposed to be under normal conditions and when warmed up to normal operating temp??? Mine is low, about a quarter inch above the bottom at all times. Could the thermostat have been pulled?? Thanks and have a good weekend!

you may have a bad temp sensor, you need check the resistance of the sensor

s4 temp gauge sits about a third of the way up.
s5 is about half way.
