Opinions for my 80 Rx7

Hello everyone I bought a 1980 rx7 back in December it's been sitting at my buddies house but I am getting ready to work on it soon. I bought it off my girlfriends uncle and he said the person he bought it off of was the original owner the dial marks 36xxx it doesn't look to beat up but just he usual ware and tear for as old as it is but it could also be 137xxx . It runs good it could use a good time up but I'm playing with the idea of swapping the motor to a 13b it's all bone stock and never modified just wondering what's the ins and outs of keeping the 12a and working with that or switching to the 13b I'm sure the 13b built would be more powerful but what you guys do??? Thanks in advance ....Rudy

If it runs leave it alone.
Unless you bought this car to have a lawn ornament for a period of time I would just enjoy it and drive it.

Styx said it. The 12a is as good as an engine can get. Flush coolant, change oil, clean the tank, Lube it, turn the motor every day for a week, and fire it up. Drive it.
If you want more power, get a header and tune the Nikki.

That's exactly what I wanted to do I'm gonna have my buddy do a compression test to make sure the engine is good to be on the safe side then if all checks out ok I'm gonna service it and cruise it around because it seems like it runs good but no didn't get a chance to drive it much the brakes were shot but it's a clean lil 80 thanks for your opinions guys
