Oil System Leak

82 GSL 12A oil seems to leak from the oil cooler/ lines, I just fixed the gas leak and the coolant leak, but the car seems to have oil all along the underside, and I have seen drips starting to form on the oil cooler itself. I figure this is a pretty common problem, I was thinking maybe replacing the oil cooler lines, But I was wondering should I replace the cooler at the same time? All the aftermarket ones on eBay don't have drains, and the factory cooler has a drain.

Usually a leaking front mount oil cooler, FMOC, is at the fittings on the oil cooler. They get stress cracks. Try replacing the crush washers but be careful to not over-tighten.

The oil cooler lines can get soft from age and oil saturation. New factory line are not available so you would need to have new one made up using the old fittings OR make/buy new lines.

Use -10AN fittings and convert the oil cooler, front cover, and rear iron to -10AN. Racing Beat makes new lines or buy the stuff to make your own.

Thanks,I will try to replace the crush washers before I try redoing the lines, Drove the car yesterday after sitting for awhile,(Rebuilt the carb and changed the intake gasket), it leaked 2 oz or so on my splash pan when it sat idling, we tuned it pretty good, I test drove it a few miles and brought it back, it pulled really good, it used to die at idle, and was hard to start, I bogged it at the stop sign, fired right up like my toyota, without doing the gas pedal dance, this morning in the cold (30-40°) I was having to do the gas pedal dance again with the choke pulled for it to want to start at all? I know cold starts are harder, I think my battery is weak in the cold, (12.1 after cranking on it) or that the carb might need a little more tuning. I know an MSD box w/ Direct Lead Ign mod, and an Optima red top would sure help cold starts, but is it necessary is what I am wondering?

Battery isn't weak. This afternoon it fired up, needs a little more carb tuning, I need to raise the idle a hair and richen it up a bit for better cold starts. Definitely leaking from the crush washers and lines and fittings. The oil pan also seems to be leaking, along with the senders/sensors, in the side. The oil system needs some love, I am out of money atm from fixing the other problems. If I am going to change the oil pan gasket, I figure I may as well put an RB oil regulator to bring the pressure up some. I want to get as much life out of the motor as is, before I eventually tear it down and port it and rebuild it, Right now I just need to get it to hold the oil in like it should.
