Oil pressure
 

Hey everyone I took my 90 fc for a cruise today and decided to wash it before I went back home. After washing the idle was strange and almost sounded like it was going to die. A couple of blocks later I notice that the oil pressure is reading zero. When I got home ( another block or 2) I checked my oil and it was fine. Any ideas what it can be?

The sender for the oil pressure is on the engine underneath the oil filter pedestal. Check that the wire for the sender is still connected, and that the contact is clean.

99% of the time, this is the cause of a zero pressure reading. If this is the case, then the idle problem is probably unrelated.

As for the strange idle, did the problem continue above idle, or ONLY at idle? And you said it sounded like it was going to die, was the idle lumpy, missing, backfiring? More details make it easier to diagnose.

Only at idle that I noticed but I'll try checking the sender tomorrow. I just find it strange it happened together

It may be related, but it's best to try and eliminate the likely problem before the unlikely problems. If we know you are getting proper oil pressure, then we can move to the other symptoms. If you aren't getting oil pressure, then we can look at the possible causes of that.

Shit happens when connections get wet,.,welcome to 30 year cars that are not totally waterproof!!!

It's what I figured had happened I tried to stay away from spraying the hood lines and wheel wells but must not of done a good enough job

Nothing beats a good hand Job...haha...wash gently and towel dry!

The sensor ended up getting wet so I wiped up the connections and I have oil pressure the idle on starts to be weird after about an hour of driving but it might be I just need to turn up my idle.
