O2 sensor placement distance???

I'm going to be building an exhaust for my turbo/ 6-port 13b using MEGASQUIRT (eventually) and I was wondering if anyone knows the best distance from after the turbo to place the O2 sensor???And will other exhaust componests effect the O2 sensor reading such as, presilencers and mufflers??? Thanks for any help...

I figure since most aftermarket down pipes have them about 1 inch from the turbo to pipe flange that, closer is better...But if anyone else has real experience with this please let me know...

Wideband or unheated narrowband?

Wideband.

I'm in the middle of sourcing parts for my build now. I've researched several resources online and most state that 18" from the turbo seems to be the best spot for balancing performance/longevity.

Mine is about 6" from turbo, should I move it?

Thank you, this is the kind of info I like to see. Sounds very plausible to me. I've seen so many different distances on stock vehicles that it leaves me guessing where to place my sensor.

If anyone knows what their distance is on their own system (stock or modified) please post, haven't seen a thread like this yet so maybe this could be of use for someone...

Most people agree anywhere from 12" and back is best for longevity. You have to remember that these engines can produce temps much higher than piston engines. That heat will kill an o2 sensor if it's placed in close proximity to the exhaust ports or right after the turbo.

As this isn't some highly-modded race car (or is it?), I think you're safe moving it to somewhere between where your downpipe levels off under that car and the cat. I've read the consensus on ideal mounting location is around 12 - 2 o'clock position.

Yeah, at least 12" from the turbo is best. Due to clearances mine typically end up about 18 - 20 inches back.
