Hey guys im about to buy a FC. But im stuck between 2 cars. Both are in good condition, clean with low miles. However one is a 87 turbo 2 with about 17k miles on it but stock suspension. The other is a 88 FC non turbo with a fresh rebuild mazda seal kit with about 10k on motor and full tein drift suspension with edc. It is non turbo but he has a turbo and manifold for the car and a lsd for the car. Will i need a stand alone to turbo the non turbo one? What other parts will i need other than oil and coolant lines and a intercooler? How hard is it to turbo a non turbo FC?

 

buy both, swap the coliovers on to the tII, sell the n/a.

 

Get the turbo, way less head-aches if you want to make any power later in the game. Turbo'ing the N/A will be a lot harder than just simply using the T2. There's many ways to "turbo an N/A" there's a T2 swap (simply swapping in engine, ecu, wiring harness and trans), or you can do a 6-port turbo (using all N/A drivetrain, but swapping over T2 parts like ECU, pressure sensor, throttle cable, etc. it's a lot harder, but if you can get it to work right you will have sweet setup).

If I were you, I'd go with the turbo if you're not willing to tackle something as big as a T2 swap or 6 port.

 

What they said. If you want a turbo, start with a TII. Read the FAQ for details on either TII swaps or turbocharging the NA engine.

 

if the t2 really has 17k on it, I'd get it (as long as he has paper work)
