No compression, motor is out, rebuild time.

Ok need some insight here.
I got the engine out and pulled the turbo and exhaust manifold. Looking through the ports, all the apex seals are present, and from what I can tell the through the exhaust, the housings look good and the irons look good. but there is a ton of build up of carbon on everything. It had no compression on either rotor. I can not get the apex seals to move at all. Probably because the PO used synthetic, There was a mobile 1 filter on it and a mobile one bottle of oil under the hood.
So I am going to yank it apart and clean up everything and inspect it all. Now I have been looking at the Atkins Rotary rebuild kit, But whats the determining factor on weather or not I should replace the rotor seals? The car has 90K miles on it and never has been modded, bone stock even the cats are present. should I just clean it all back up with new O rings or should I replace all the apex and rotor seals?

Well you know that you are going to need the soft seals if you take it apart.
I would wait until you have it Fully apart and then start your parts list.
No sense in ordering stuff that cost money and you do not need!

your totally right, and thats what I planned on doing. But im just trying to get an idea, if the rotor seals are just stuck, should I go ahead and replace them or just leave the OEM ones? also what about the springs?

I've been planning on buying an FD RX and was thinking I'd learn to do the rebuilds myself and since they're so darn cheap I could learn on a JDM import motor. Heck maybe even learn to rebuild them enough to keep a built spare in the garage ready to be put in just in case my motor takes a dump.

Myself?.(strictly My opinion),I would re-do the whole engine. In and Outer.
The only way I would just do the Soft seals is if the engine had great compression.Anything less I would be 2nd guessing the internals,so Instead of doing an engine job Twice,I would opt to re-do everything and do the Engine rebuild Once!
Internally,If the seals stuck, then they would have to be removed anyways, rotors cleaned etc.
I'd be looking at replacing anything on that Taco!

90k on the OEM 3 piece apex seals? would be surprised if no housing edge wear from the apex small piece. my experince is once you take it a part things might look differently. do yourself a favor and replace them w/new 2 piece seals. Atkins seals, e.g., are quite inexpensive and they've been around for a long time. Just supplement w/pre-mix for added protection.

Ok guys I got the engine torn down, Im amazed at how much carbon build up and how Gooey everything is. The apex seals are stuck by a gooey substance, and the housing have a nice coat all the way around them. After using a rag and rubbing the housings, they look immaculate. Ive got some pics loading to photobucket I will load up.

See if you guys can access this and look at the pics

I would go ahead and make sure everything is within the specifications. If something is not, just replace it. And by the way I have the atkins rotary 2 piece seals and I love them so far...

Housings look great, rotors look great, checked apex seals, I can see some wear on them now they are cleaned up, going to replace them. Having a difficult time removing the corner seals and side seals, they are almost stuck flush with the side of the rotors.

How low was your compression? I've got an engine I bought at the junkyard that has all its apex seals that I'm considering swapping in but I'd hate for it to be so low it won't run right.

Rotary >Pistons

I had no compression at all, all rotor seals were stuck. You could pull the plug and turn it over, it wouldnt even make a sound. Didnt even register on the gauge.

Oh wow mine makes sound

Rotary >Pistons

Ok everything is apart finally, I had to use a propane torch to heat up the rotors to get the end seals and side seals out. what a B!tc# it was, I broke 4 side seals getting them out. Not happy as they were good. Gonna send the rotors and housings to my buddy with a steam parts washer to see if he can get them clean since my solvent tank is not touching it.

You could've let it sit with some atf fluid on the seals or wd-40. Sometimes that makes them come out

They set in my solvent tank for about 2 days.

I think I will rebuild my 13b at home. I'll post some pics when I start
