newbie doing newbie things

hellow there fellow members! i'm new here and have a few questions on my journey to buying a fd3s. looking to buy one some time this week or the week after. i was wondering what tyoe of things should i look for before buying an rx7...leaks,boost leaks, noise, smoke, idle, boost response, etc....

i'm leaning towards buying a members single turboed fd and have been told that the car is running but not great and will require a tune and so forth. i'm new to rx7 but well known on the evo forum and mechanically inclined. i'm just wondering if there should be any perticular thing i should look for!? any type of tests i should run besides the compression test and a cooling system leak test?

thats about it right now and until the seller gets back i really can't really do anything now but wait. just can't wait to get one and share my experience with you guys. looking forward of being here for a long time.....:)

See the 3rd gen FAQ sticky for info on generic stuff to look for when purchasing the car.

Sine the car you are looking at is modified, all bets are off. You'll need to look at the quality of the work and the parts used.

A good question to ask is "Why is it not tuned?". It's trivial to make a car run acceptably with a little bit of tuning. Why is it not done?

yes, i was wondering about that myself. he puts all the good mods on there but don't have money for a tune??? hmmm...... well i'll have to wait till the buyer comes back from deployment and have a good talk with him. thanks for your help
