New Zealand ~ Temporary flywheel, FC 13bt
Hey there, my flywheel and clutch is in need of replacement, the clutch i can sort reasonably easy how ever the flywheel is posing a problem. The car was originally auto but now manual, and i have 9 days to fix it before i need to drive it ~900km. I can source a 2nd hand stock turbo flywheel easily and cheaply, however these have two bolts connecting to the engine and my lightweight version has 6. I have been told that if i removed the counterweight then i should be able to fit the stock one.
Is this correct or would I need new counter weights? TLDR: Will I be able to fit a stock turbo 2 bolt flywheel if i remove the 6bolt counter weight from what I currently have? Thanks |
Why don't you just get the flywheel you have resurfaced? Or does it still have the automatic flexplate? In auto -> manual conversions, you can take the auto counterweight & bolt it to aftermarket flywheels, or you can use a manual flywheel without the auto counterweight (manual flywheels are already counterweighted). If you have a turbo transmission, the flywheel must also be from a turbo & it must also be from the same series. If an NA transmission, the flywheel needs to be from a manual NA of the same series.

Yeah i just wasnt sure it was a viable option as it had turned blue from overheating. But i have gone this way should atleast make the trip.
The clutch had been slipping a little and i'd been putting it off, Turns out early morning skids is enough to put you in a bit of trouble |
