New to the world of Mazdas and rotory some questions I would like sneered please :)

I found a 1984 rx7 12a that comes with a second engine, it needs a fuel pump but I think it's a good price and I can't afford to maintain my big turbo gti,
I'm curious if these cars are reliable, from what I have read they can be IF treated like a rotory engine not a piston. I don't mine working on it at all as long as it won't be drive a week fix for 2 (my vw that wasn't built properly)
What I want to do to the car is eventually throw my old ko3s on it, I know I'll need apex seals oil pump and cooler, when it's done I'll Dyno tune it , I'm looking to get like 300-350hp, I have read that I can use s3or s4( haven't read into those cars or whatever they are yet) oil coolers and fuel pumps as well if I'm not mistaken were can I get oem replacements for these parts? (Napa or part source) also what do I have to do to rev to 9 or 10K (biggest reason I'm interested in rotory) and lastly is there any common issues I should look for with or be aware of?

the best advice i can muster on getting a Gen I Rx-7 to replace your unaffordable maintenance on your GTI (which generation, by the way?) is tread carefully.

they are and can be dead reliable. however, you would need either time with an average car OR you would need to find a "LOVED" car - neither is a guarantee, but both would be a good start. i'm not sure buying a car that may very well have been a failed project is a good idea for someone that is starting their first thread by admitting financial trouble for maintenance on what i will assume is a much younger car - albeit, heavily modified.

the '84 you're looking at, even if it was pristine and ran perfectly, is still a 30 year old car. unless it was a top dollar full-bore, completed restoration, it's still a gamble. there's no strong aftermarket for Gen I cars and 12As and their hard parts are now NLA from Mazda. Rx-7 - like any sports cars - are not forgiving or interested in your financial status. things WILL need fixing. be forewarned.

all i will say about your mentioned future plans are the following:
1. do your homework. research it thoroughly. and,
2. forget about using the K03s. they barely stand up to their OEM duties in the VAG camp, you're begging for trouble putting one behind a rotary.
