welcome to the board. :)

pre-advice:
get a good shop/reference manual
watch the Aaron Cake videos
look at the engine and inventory your tools (most of it is pretty straightforward metric stuff, but there will be a few items that are special - 54mm flywheel nut, flywheel stopper, torque wrench, etc.)
ziploc bags (big and small)
secure a clean, dedicated area to work (storing parts, washing parts, etc.)

advice: (for disassembly and rebuild)
i don't know how well you think spatially, but if you check out videos of how the engine works and how it makes compression, then it really won't be as intimidating as it seems right now.

are you working with a time-table? hopefully not, because it's best if you take your time with it.

clean and label everything meticulously. measure everything meticulously. best to get a notepad to make notes in real time. if you can make little videos, that would help, too - especially when it comes time for the front stack.

when everything is measured, cleaned and put away ... then, and ONLY THEN do you start buying parts.

I have rebuilt plenty of small blocks and no I don't have any time frame it will sit in my garage till its all together and right lol. Its so tiny!!! I can lift it by hand. I just haven't messed with one before. I have been watching several videos on YouTube

Lol it will defenitly be an adventure. Should I buy a turbo kit for it. And if so are there any brands I should stick to?

Is your 87 turbo'd ?
What model is it ?
Like I heard from someone -don't go bananas

Rebuilding the engine is a decent week-end task
What makes you think you need a rebuild?
I mean if it's alright, just enjoy driving it for now
but be prepared , I would suggest

I bought it from a friend it is not turbod as far as model number and what not u would have to ask him I'm not sure. He said it would be a good idea to do a rebuild. He said it smokes a little when it has been running for a while. I'm new to rotaries so I'm not 100% what that means for these engines. I know it runs I had driven it a couple times here and there back when it was still in his car

I meant I would have to ask him lol

Oil seals maybe...
Check out www.rotaryressurection.com they got some info and pictures about rotors difference between N/A and Turbo ,the turbo swap.. & the 5th/6th ports you have

Almost everything has been documented on these subject
Just need to find it ;)
