need more power
 

does any one know a good way to push some more power out of a n/a with out dropping 500 bucks.

use a chain on your wallet..???(just kidding!)

Not a lot of big gains can be made without shelling out some coin.
The "pay to play" saying comes in here with a vengeance.
A good exhaust is a place to start.You can get by with a bigger diameter system,but Honestly they may not sound decent.
Just a used Racing Beat exhaust system alone will cost you a couple hundred..(new,close to 1K).

You'd be well off to start looking at threads like "Beefy N/A thread".This will give you ideas as to what you can toss on.
The real power would be inside,and rebuilding the engine to maximize it's potential.That will eat your 500 for breakfast.

intake and exhaust eat up $500 rather quick and beyond that the gains will be very minor without shelling out a lot more than that.

if you're intent on making more power you can sell the n/a and buy a TII and make more power than that $500 on an n/a would buy for just a little bit more. for those who become power hungry, the n/a is not a good platform.

Ya i have found just by looking around that this is not going to be as cheap as my p revise cars to build but i am ready to start on it but i kind of want to convert my n/a to turbo just have to get that good old money first i just want to push a little more power till then to help her slid but who knows might just have to go turbo a little sooner than expected

i am from Kansas my self and they are a lot more common out there then they are here in NC i have looked in Kansas and parts are a lot cheaper and easier to find so when i get home in December i will be on the look out for parts.

save yourself the headache and forget about a turbo swap, sell the car and buy an already turbo car.

unless you like poking yourself with sharp objects.

ya idk about that i just started on the paint proses so idk if i will want to see mine go after that but only time will tell

the cheapest way to make your car faster is to drop weight...

i thought ebay cracked down on the postage scams... $60 in shipping for a .5lb piece of plastic crap in a box. i can't believe people still buy those stupid things, wait, yes i can.

If you're talking about getting power cheap, lose the weight. This improves power to weight which translates into more effective use of the power that you already have through acceleration, braking, and handling, tire wear, gas mileage, all kinds of stuff. Just be careful where you take the weight out, you could adversely impact the handling balance.

The effect is amplified if the weight is taken from reciprocating mass (flywheel, wheels, rotors, etc.) or from unsprung weight (basically anything not held up by the car's suspension - so the suspension itself and most things coming off of it including brakes, wheels, and tires.)

You could throw on some meshies on from a convertible Rx7 if you have other heavier wheels.

You could get some lighter brake rotors/ calipers (improve braking as well).

You could throw some lighter springs into your struts.
(Companies like Swift make specifically lighter springs with custom rates for pretty cheap).

You could spend less than 200 for a lightweight battery while taking weight away from other places.

Go for a jog ^_^ helps you and your car.

Effectively put your power down, get some stickier tires, and a legit pressure gauge - check your pressures religiously.

i'm all for kids modifying their cars in which lightening is a viable option, but gutting a perfectly fine car and turning it into a rolling turd is another thing. keep in mind when you say start ripping things out, most current FC owners are going to take that quite literally.

Haha yeah. True. As they do - but I never said anything about gutting it. You can lose loads of weight without gutting your car and you can lose it in more effective areas without looking like you bought a missile or a junkyard parts car haha. I've certainly been guilty of almost completely stripping cars but you learn along the way :)

I hope I've given at least a few specific examples to keep the OP engaged enough to avoid that sort of thing.

I had a guy try to sell one for $50 used, I asked him if thats what he was offering to the person who would take it off his hands and throw it in the trash because hewas to embarrassed to be seen walking with it .

he wasn't impressed LOL

add a turbo

he said under 500 dollars . and I'm assuming he would like to drive it for more then a glorius 2 minutes before it leaned out and blew up :lol:

To the OP , Making more power will always be spensive . I dont know what other car's you've had . and howmuch power you got out of them with 500 bucks , But If you leave the beaten path , and take a curvy road ... You will notice your lack of power MUUUCH less.. and might even have some fun !
