Need ignition key

So I bought a $300 fc with no ignition key and a friend spoke to his "key guy" who said "Don't pull the ignition or break the column cause there is a code in the door and I can use that to make you the right key."
This was all before I picked up the car. I asked my friend yesterday if he knew where this code was located, and of course he says "nope, key guy just said it was in the door." So has any one here ever heard of this magical code that's allegedly "in the door"? Is it behind the door panel? Can you post pics if you do know where it is? Even if its just a shot of the doorpanel with a crappy arrow drawn in mspaint pointing to the general area I'll be gratetful. I know it's not the doorlock cylinder from reading other threads but I can't find any other info.

Assuming that all the locks are original you can either get the VIN and take it to a dealer( big bucks) Or take the lock out of the hatch( easy 5 minute job with pliers and a 10mm wrench).take the tumbler to a locksmiths and he can make you a key that fits.
Another couple options is getting just an ignition switch assembly from the Parts section or a whole set.
The key guy doesn't know Mazdas!

Best solution locksmiths

Solution 2) I make this on my old 1993 320i (no electronic control on the key)
I buyed a FIAT (XD) used lock from a car wrecker (less then 10 euro) and istalled it in my car.

Solution 3)Call Mazda assistance with Vin and registration sheet with your nalme and they sed you an original key for about 60-70 euro

Thanks guys. I figured I'd ask first before ripping the door panel off looking for something that probably didn't exist. Glad I did.

so you are saying if I pull the door panel and remove the lock cylinder on the passenger side door there will be a code or a tag on the cylinder?

Now I don't seem to mind as much that all the windows are busted out that should make this a whole lot easier.

You could remove the ignition lock and carefully operate the electrical portion of the assembly if you just need to get it home.
