Nebie Question Regarding 3800 RPM Hesitation
 

Okay guys, hopefully this doesn't get me flamed, and yes, I have searched, quite a bit actually. I have the dreaded 3800 RPM hesitation, however, mine doesn't happen after the car reaches normal operating temps, which would suggest to me that the issue has little, if anything to do with grounding problems.
Would I be right in that assumption?
My car is exceptionally clean, I have gone over it in detail and cannot see any problems with grounds, and it has just a tick over 89,000 miles. I have a new battery and have replaced the alternator, none of which have had any effect on the performance, except for a bit easier starting and smoother idle.
Plugs have been changed, wires are recent, I have cleaned the throttle body, changed the air filter, and checked for anything abnormal.

Just cause you can't "see" anything wrong with the grounds does NOT mean they are making good contact. You have 89k miles of oxidation. Your grounds are all composed of copper lugs on either aluminum or steel, both of which oxidize, especially the one on the block heating up and cooling down constantly and creating moisture between the lug and the block.

Best thing is to clean all your grounds, dilectric grease them, and reinstall. Maybe even add a couple or move some to better locations eg the one that goes into drivers side strut tower and catches all the road grime

At any rate, (I should have mentioned) I have checked the grounds and cleaned and reinstalled (all except the ECU ground). My thought was that since it goes away after the car warms up, that perhaps there something else entirely different going on.

I'll try relocating the grounds, perhaps some of the ground wires are less than efficient (internal breaks, etc.). Thanks for your help!

The one that causes the most grief with the 3800 hes is the main ecu ground which is under the upper intake manifold, all sorts of shat gets caught in there and hold moisture, and greasy grimey gopher guts, don't forget your spoon!

Yup, live in freeland, work in midland, finally got my hand on my first 7 4 years ago, wrecked it then got another one. It mainly sits now because it has a bad coolant seal, and house bills and family eats the cash flow up to rebuild it, stupid responsibilities

TN is great, moved here for work when I was still married. She threatened to divorce me for moving here, but then let up when she realized just how nice it is. You should move here, it beats Central Michigan (except for now, it's hotter than the devil's jock strap after 9 innings).

So, not to ask an obvious question, but... I'm guessing the upper intake manifold has to come off to get at this ground?

Yup, save yourself future hassle too, get some vacuum line, and new gaskets and replace what you can while your in there and check everything over real good. Not a real hard task, but it may take a weekend depending on......circumstances lets say lol
