my fb won't start!
Okay I have an 82 fb series 2.. a little background, I drove her up this mountain road and she didn't overheat or give me trouble all was fine..I even turned off and started back up several times while I was up there sight seeing. The problem started the following day it was having trouble getting started as usual but this time didn't start only kept cranking..I know the gas is getting there I can smell it, so started by pulling off the wires from ignition coils, one had spark and one didn't..of course I did one at a time.. So I thought okay only one is bad that should be my problem..wrong! I bought both new and charged my battery it's an optima btw, and still nothing just cranks and kinda wants to start but doesn't.. Could the drive up the mountain have anything to do with it? Altitude change and what not.. I'm going to check my wires and dizzy etc. Don't think anything could be bad since this happened over night and that's why I'm lost..any thoughts on this? ..

I'm guessing it was the leading coil that was bad. If so, it was the leading ignitor. Try swapping the ignitors and see what you get. I think you need a new one.

Okay so I swapped the igniters and no difference..could both have gone bad?

Okay so I did some more looking around and i was wrong about the coils the new ones have same resistance as old ones..also checked the pick up coils and they check out. Only thing I can think of is the igniters but don't know how to test with my DMM..I will replace the cap and rotor also as the rotor and inside of cap look pretty bad.

Can you check to see if you have spark?

In case you fellas were wondering I did get my 7 running again i swapped the bad ignitor for a new one and changed the cap rotor plugs and wires and that did it! One thing I saw was that the old plugs were drowned in oil, could there be a leak inside the engine?

I'm glad you got it going! As to the oily plugs, could be. Drive a while and check em. Let us know.
