my car's running @ 15.3V during idle.... ideas!?
Two nights ago when I was driving on the freeway all my warning lights ( in my 89 turbo II ) came on and my cluster was extremely bright all of a sudden, for a second thought my battery was dead but realized right away that I'm still driving on the road and my car was running fine. (of course my cluster was still bright as hell)
So I pulled over, restarted the car and it was doing the same thing, but this time all the warning lights would come on then fade away.. pretty much it was tripping, and my windshield wiper came on by itself while I was driving away... I was like WTF ?? I had to get home so I took local, car still drives fine I made it home, but, my warning lights were tripping the whole time!
Today I drove around again and it was doing the same thing. Finally got a meter tested 15.3 volt during idle... I'm going to get new alternator tomorrow (maybe the voltage regulator inside is F.up..? I'm thinking ).... but, one thing I need to mention is that, if I turn on my AC, or headlights... it would trigger something ( a circuit perhaps ??) and my warning lights would go away... until i turn whatever off then come right back on... so, it's almost like whenever I put a load on the system it trips it out ? IDK...
But I was wondering.. could it be anything else that triggers it ( besides the voltage regulator inside alternator if it's even the cause) ? Could the cause be something else....? if so... what could it be!!
ANY HELP OR IDEA WOULD BE GREATLY APPERICATED !! THANKS !! I need to get this fix... is CRAZY driving around at night... with tripping warning lights... and possible fry everything else.... ^_^ seriously.
