My cars breaking down and lose of power need help !

Hi guys I'm starting to get frustrated big time with my 93 rx7 . A few years ago it started acting up on me like it had a boost leak ,the car just felt like it was being towed backwards no power when any amount of gas was applied it would backfire and totally drop all power and boost . So I started picking on little things trying to source my problem ( coils ,plugs, wires, fuel filters etc) . So last spring I decided to try and fix the problem by getting another drop in motor ,wiring harness, ecu and tranny ! So I figured I would cover all bases this way ....well I was wrong ! Got the motor swap done and went out for the first test run and bam same bloody problem !! Being frustrated I let it idle for awhile in the driveway when it quit . Fuel pump went ! So replaced the fuel pump and still the same problem . They car runs fine starts fine just doesn't seem to want to boost past the halfway mark .if you step on the gas pedal it will backfire and start jumping and lose all l power but you can slowly redline the engine as long as it's not boosting past the halfway mark . Any help would be great !!
List of upgrades are front mounted inter cooler ,and apex cold air intakes and exhaust .
Ps I disconnected the cat to make sure it wasn't plugged up and stills am e problem .

welcome to the board. :)

i'm pretty sure i'm not going to help you figure this out, because of the 3 generations, the FD is the one i know least intimately. that said, start with the basics if you have not already done so. change your filters, or as a matter of fact, go with a full tuneup.

as far as the issue you describe, first step in get a copy of the FSM. i know the turbocharger system has a maze of vacuum lines and feedback solenoids, you may need to bite the bullet and go through everything one by one.

hopefully SgtBlue or one of the other Gen III sees this soon and can get you more useful and specific information.

I'm a second gen guy I'm not too good on FD's. But maybe its in limp mode if it cuts out right before boost. So maybe a vacuum leak somewhere. Id definitely check for vacuum leaks first off because this really sounds like limp mode. But I'm probably wrong haha

Yah I'm going to replace all the vacuum lines in the rats Nast and might try to simplify them .

There are other threads in this section that sort of relate to what you are going through.
If you take a second and read through those you may get some insight into your problem.
The Fd turbo system is a little "prickish" and the secondary turbo vacuum lines and solenoid system are usually things to look at when this happens.
A hose or line pops off and you lose boost on the secondary. You can still hit the redline gradually.
From what I have read anyways.

Yah I'm going to have to got here the lines . I figured I would have covered that all with a drop in motor swap but guess I still gotta go three them all . It's wild how many lines are under that intake system for two turbos !

Has anyone else been having related issues even after a full motor swap?
