Meter fuse keeps blowing out
Hi everyone, i know there been a couple of threads out there about this same issue. all with many different solution/resolutions.
to me, this is wat happened... https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a418dbdaf0.png -Meter fuse (15A) blows out every time u put a new one in it. - my first step was putting a 20A fuse to see if it still blows and it did. so in my opinion this would mean tat there is a short somewhere in this circuit. -i followed the diagram, which i saw in another forum, and saw tat the wire tat comes from the fuse runs to the relay #1. -so i disconnected relay #1 and tried to see if the fuse would blow again, and it did. -so then i was like "screw it", i disconnected all 4 Relays and i also disconnected the TNS, RETRA, and AIR COND relay. and guess wat, it still blew the 15A fuse. -tat would mean tat there is a short in between the 15A fuse and relay #1 correct? Can anyone help me out? |
The FD's fan control system was revised a few times during production. Also, the METER fuse has its hand in a few other things too. Have you looked at Section W: Power Distribution in the wiring diagrams? Since I don't know what year your FD is, I'm gonna default to the earliest possible ones (1993 model)
From the 10/91 Japanese diagrams, the Meter Fuse feeds the Cooling Fans (as you described), Combination Meter & Warning Lights, Rear Wiper & Washer, Turn & Hazard lights, Horn/Stop Light/High Mount Stop Light/Back-up Lights, EC-AT Control Unit, Shift Lock system, Key Interlock System, TWS Unit #2 (AKA Body CPU 2), Rear Defroster and quite a bit more. The US spec ones are bound to be similar, it's just been awhile since I looked in the North American documentation. It would be wise to arm yourself with the Wiring Diagrams and Manuals from here: Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals |
