Making a Hydro E-Brake
 

posting here because it says im not allowed access anywhere else. So im building a v8 swapped 10th anniversary fc drift missile ( the car is toast already dont hate me its the only way the poor car will ever be driven again) and i want to make my own hydro using a honda clutch master and the camshaft out of a 5.3 as the handle. i was thinking of cleaning it and getting it hydro dipped to match the intake. any pics or tips on how to make an e brake?

well i was puzzled about how to make one for awhile but i think i at least have the theory.

by the way a camshaft might not be the greatest handle but whatever..might be a littel heavy , then again get rad with it its a drift missle...

Simple as this...

step 1. buy handbrake setup off ebay

step two...rip apart entire car interior to mt handle to chassis you will be crankign on that sucker and its goign to have a 30lb chevy camshaft as a handle...;)

step three jack up car real good to access brake lines under neath...

At this point you can either run new rear brake lines from ABS through fire wall inside of car to the rear plumbing the handle along the way making sure you connect the handle so it pushes fluid in the right direction.

or cut a hole in floor pan and cut and reflare stock tubing from underneath car to poke up into console area running handle inline the system by simpling plubling the handle INLINE.....

Final...some guys like to have a small proportioning valve behind handle as in between rear brakes and handle . when braking the fluid is pushed through handle cylinder thus you are braking fluid through the handle and when you pull the handle it only compresses rear calipers...

the other way to do it you run additional self contained calipers with an in cab resvoir totally seperate from stock brakes...probalby safer for a daily driver so you dont lock up the brakes goign down the road...more $$ time..for drift missle u should do option 1

either way the handle is plumbed INLINE of the rear brake line.....simple as that..thats all

a lot of people get a second set of calipers that are used on the rear. That way the foot brake will still feel the same. If you only have use set when you brake the foot pedal will feel very weird.

You do know that camshafts are extremely brittle and not really strong in deflection...right?

Skier, do you have any updates on your ride. I hear you did a wire harness tuck, how did it come out? Also, did you ever figure out your overheating issues?
