Low oil pressure

I have an 84 rx7 gs with the 12a. minimal mods like rb holley intake, holley fpr, msd 6al, rb headers, 2nd gen oil cooler. My question is my oil pressure stays at like 45psi and wont increase, any thoughts as to why it wont rise?

Test with a mechanical gauge. The stock gauge is unreliable.

If oil pressure is still low then it is probably a failed o-ring between the front cover and iron.

^ 1up with this. I run a sandwich oil filter kit with a manual Gauge in my engine bay and a electronic in cab. Your looking at a signal being sent to your cluster on a sensor thats probally 20+ years

thats no good at all

I have an autometer oil pressure guage installed that came with its own sensor

Well, that's unfortunate. :( It means pulling the front cover. Unless the Autometer guage has failed. ;)

Id hate to have to pull the front cover, I did notice that my front oil cooler hose is slighty bent coming from the block, I wonder if that would be the problem?

Bent as in pinched?

rotaryjunkee 08-06-12 05:14 AM

Yes a little bit pinched, do u guys think that would be the culprit?

Aaron Cake 08-06-12 09:58 AM

A little pinch is not going to have any effect.
