Low idle and stall

I just bought a 1988 rx7 convertible. Before buying it I checked the compression and the engine is good. But it does suffer a problem where it idles too low and will stall. I've been touching the throttle when at a stop to prevent it from stalling. Any ideas what it could be?

Welcome to the board. ;)

Could be any number of things, but start with the simple stuff first then work your way up.

First step is get reference material. You can get the FSM free here: Foxed.ca. You should probably also get a Haynes manual, too, but that's up to you.

1. start with looking for vacuum leaks
2. give the car a full tuneup (filters, fluids, etc.)
3. verify timing

If none of those things help, then post again and we can look deeper.

Found a vacuum hose

So I found a vacuum hose but I can't seem to find where it goes. It's right next to the throttle body on the passenger side.

Yeah I would think a vacuum leak could be the culprit, I looked at a couple of TSB's and it could be that the gasket for the upper intake manifold could be bad.

I figured out that vacuum hose actually goes to the intake. So I gotta find a way to get it into the cold air system. Shouldn't be too hard.
