Loping Idle?

Hey everyone, I currently own a 1985 Rx7 GS with a 12a, after it sits at idle it has what sounds like a misfire. It does however have an exhaust leak near the header, could that be the cause of the sound? A few of the vacuum lines have been sealed with what looks like bolts? and the "Subzero Fluid" reservoir hoses arent connected to the card..... could this be a vacuum leak?

I know this is rather vague but prior to the Rx I've owned mainly Volkswagens so I'm new to the Rotary engine, and Turbo diesels just arent the same in comparison....

I've heard that the 1st gens have something like an "afterburner" on the exhaust side where unburnt fuel combusts? is that correct or am I way off?

Thanks in advance.

Any of those open or capped lines could be a vacuum leak. The sub zero system should be removed and the nipples on the manifold capped.

I think a full tuneup is probably the best place to start.

Early 1st gens had a thermal reactor exhaust system, but your '85 will have a conventional cat.

it actually has 2 cats on it which I assume is normal? I found it to have a exhaust leak between the header ant the first Cat. When it makes the poping sound you can see flames coming out of the leak. (I'm assuming the Doughnut gasket is toast)

I havent had a chance to check the lines, but I think my plugs my be fouled.... The top 2 are new but the lower look older, so I'll start by replacing/properly gapping them. I'll see if I cant get a video of it and link it to the forum in the next few days..

sounds super rich if flames are coming out... but i just started working w/12As so i dont know...
