Looking for my first rx7, still

So i have been looking for an rx7 for about the past two months. My budget is around 3000, but all the fc rx7s in my area are either above my budget, riced or rusted out, a convertible (not interested in), or has some sort of electrical problem.

There is one guy who's car shuts off randomly, and another one where the car sometimes just doesn't start. So I searched a little bit on the forums and know about the ecu being sketchy at times. But how easy is it to fix the electrical system on the fc s4 and s5 rx7s?

I completely redid the wiring harness on my motorcycle before, and it was a pain to staring at the wiring diagram for hours and testing each wire lead. But what are some easier methods to track down the cause of a car shutting off randomly and other electrical gremlins?

Or should i just keep waiting for a good deal to come by?

Any help is appreciated!

Steven

Patience! An unmolested car will appear at just the right time. How far are you willing to travel?

+1 for Patience! It took me almost a year to find the right FD.

It's hard to wait, but trust me when I say it's worth it. As a plus your budget might grow a bit while you wait.

First thing when you find a car is to check the history of it to find out WTF has been done to it!
Seriously if you skip this step it will bite you in the ass.

Not everyone is a master mechanic BUT they think they are,so they leave their handywork for you to figure out...so ASK..

Im in Dallas, and im willing to go out 200 miles the most.
Im heading to OKC to check out a Miata next weekend actually.
Stuck between those two cars

Haha. It is hard! Especially when you finally anticipated it for so long and saved up enough.

True! I learned my mistake. Bought a project motorcycle last year trusting the guy's word on it instead of inspecting it thoroughly. It was such a pain. Spent about 600 to get a 500 dollar bike legal and running.

One way to get a nice car if you are going to mod it anyway. buy a car with some already nice mods that might not be to your taste but have good resale value. spend more, sell the mods, nice car for a much cheaper price.

that is what I did.

6 years of searching and I just found, and bought, a glorious first gen! drove her from Louisville KY to Baton Rouge LA no problem! Hang in there!

Before this thread gets Deleted for non compliance of Rules I ask that ANY parties please not try to post here to Buy or sell in this TECHNICAL SECTION.
It is clearly stated in the Rules and there is a PM function that works just fine between members so they can contact each other freely without Breaking protocol.
Thanks Gents.
