looking at getting my first rx7

going to look at a 89 rx7 convertible. got a few questions that you guys (and gals) can help me with.

little about the car first off, it's a sapphire blue car (which he said was a s4 color and only made a couple s5 car with it?), was an automatic it was swapped to a five speed and has 4.10 rear from a GXL in it.

Has rust under the drivers and passenger doors, how commons is this and does anyone make patch panels for them?

Convertible top has two not so major rips in it but i'd like to replace it anyway.
whats the best place for quality and price for a new top?

Motor was rebuilt by banzai racing out of Indiana (are they any good) with a mild street port.

Thats about all i have for now ,and sorry for the long post.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum.

Banzai is a very reptuable shop, good history with the community.

No one makes replacement rockers that I know of but if you take a pattern of it to a tinner's shop, they may be able bend up a length 20-24 gauge galanized tin as a replacement. Old rocker cover can be drilled out with a spot weld drill bit, then sand blast and rustproof the inner metal before it's sealed up. The rockers usually don't rust out on the FCs. You need to find the source of water infiltratiation and fix it. There's also weep holes at the bottom pinch weld that may be plugged up.

For the top, check your local auto upholstery shops.
