Looking for beam wiper blades made for RHD cars

I bought Bosch Icon beam windshield wiper blades at a local (Orlando) Advance car parts store. I got two 20”s for the front and an 18” for back (for a RX-7).

But the problem is that on a right hand drive FD3S, the aero feature of the blade is backwards, so I need blades designed for RHD.

Here’s why: A beam blade is somewhat wing-shaped, with the thinner leading edge of the blade facing down (towards the hood). At high speeds, wind over the windshield will force the wiper blade down.

On a US-standard left hand drive car, the Bosch Icon’s leading edge does indeed face down. But when installed on a right hand drive FD3S, the leading edge faces the roof. (This is because the wiper arm positions and movement are reversed on RHD.) And I can’t install the Icon “upside down” as it goes onto the J-hook wiper arm only one way.

If briansfd or anyone else can help, I’d appreciate it. I want to use beam blades, Icons if possible. Are there RHD beam blades available anywhere (I assume not at a local chain car parts store <g>.) Thanks!

Welcome to forum. Try an Australian parts supplier. There is plenty of them here

Amazon sells RHD beam blades. You just have to search a little bit.

I searched “beam wiper blade RHD” at Amazon.com. There were 4 results, none of which were sized for the FD3S (20” for front, 18” for rear). Nor did additional searching with different terms lead to more sizes or results.

If anyone has any direct links I’d be very appreciative. Thanks!

Would this help?

i think that link is for the brand “International”. When I filled in the fields for a Mazda RX7 1991, it told me I need 22” wipers even though the OEM ones on the car are both 20”. But thanks for trying!

Pretty sure Bosch uses A and B to differentiate. Basically one is designed for wipers to go left to right and the other is for right to left if that makes sense.

No, A is for the driver’s side and for flatter passenger side windows. B is for more curved passenger side windows.

I bought 20A and 20B. On both, the leading edge of the wiper faces the hood when installed in a US-standard LHD car. On the RHD RX7 FD3S, the leading edge faces the roof. As I stated in my OP, this is not aerodynamic since the wing shape of the blade is designed to force the blade down onto the windshield at high vehicle speeds.

But it thanks again for trying!

Understood. Is there a reason you don't go with a beam that can be switched around at the j-hook area like a lot of the tricos?

I was not aware of any specific wiper blade models that could be mounted either way (“rightside up” or “upside down”) on a J-hook arm. I did not see this feature when searching Amazon though maybe it is buried in the description.

If anybody knows of a good quality beam blade (specific brand and model) that can mount either way, that would be great.

Have you tried contacting the manufacture?
