just looking for advice

I resently bought a 89 N/A. I plan on driving it pretty often with the random track day. Im trying to figure out the best way to get around 300-350hp. But i also don't want to spend an arm or a leg. Should i work on the N/A, 13bt or ls1? Im also open for any other suggestions.

Can you fabricate stuff?

faytdrifter 05-15-09 06:54 PM

I can't but i have a friend that can help me out with that.

all i can tell you is that once you throw done the ls1 words your gunna get hardcore slammed. it seems everybody is almost againts that. it just kills the rx7

yeah i don't really want to do the ls1 but im really new to rotaries. Thats why im asking for advise. I want to know stuff like, if i put 350hp to the N/A will it break down on me. Is it better just to do the the TurboII swap? should i look into the 13bre? How much would it cost to do a 20b swap? I mean I know how the rotaries work but whats good for them and whats not im kinda clueless. I just want to do it right the first time or at least by the second.

Don't think about making 350HP on the NA. It's not going to happen easily.

Sounds like you are a good candidate for a TII swap with an upgraded stock (BNR) turbo. 300 HP is fairly easy with bolt ons and a minor turbo upgrade.

Ok for the TII I know I need the engine, trans, rearend, and ecu. Do I need a new wiring harrness or gage cluster. Whats a good place to get a S5 engine/trans or do you think it would be better to just find a donor car. If anyone could give me a list of what I need I would greatly appreciate it.:icon_tup:

find a donor car. cause there is always going to be those little things you will need and will be a bitch to track down. i think if you stay within the same series just a new engine harness will be ok. the cluster isnt nessesary but you can. i think the only reason you would want to is n/a and t2 redline at different points. but i think a donor is your best bet.,

here is a basic list that should work for you. get everything from the engine to the rear end. the whole drive train basically. and a engine harness if your dealing with the same series cars. and the cluster is up to you

Ok because i doubt that im going to find a TII that has lowmiles whats a good company to buy a full rebuild kit. Also I've heard mixed reviews about apex seals Is one pice 3mm or one pice 2mm better.

Aaron Cake 05-19-09 09:00 AM

You want 2 piece 2MM seals. Atkins sells full rebuild kits for a decent price.

thanks for pointing me in the right direction
