Injector and fuel pump upgrade questions(FC TII)
Hey, I'm still new to the forum and modifying my car (87 TII). I plan on doing these upgrades and I have questions about a few.
Racing Beat REV TII Port wastgate Manual Boost controller Boost gauge Wideband o2 Rtek 1.7 750cc injectors (secondary) Fuel pump upgrade with re-wire. My first question is about the injectors. When I replace these do I need aftermarket clips or will they bolt right in? Also how do I wire a resistor in for high impedence injectors? Second question is what fuel pump should I use? I'm looking into a walbro 255 or is it better to go with the FD pump? Last question is should I be able to run all these and have a dependable daily driver and is there anything I am missing that could cause a problem?? Please help. |

If your car is a late '87, there will be no resistor pack & you'll have high impedance injectors (12-13 ohm). High impedance aftermarket injectors would drop right in, but low impedance injectors would require resistors wired in-line. The easiest place to wire in resistors is at the ECU. Here's a shot of my ECU with a 1.7 chip and four 6 ohm 10watt resistors spliced into the injector circuits: https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...6&d=1222058265 The four light green wires on the harness are for the injectors.

Thank you RR88! I appreciate the help. But I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. My exhaust order just fell through and I only have a 3 weeks before I have to put my car on the road. I think I might wait until summer and do the Rtek 2.1 and the goodies. But I'm also in a bind because my stock exhaust cat is falling apart. The honeycomb inside is sideways and I'm afraid it could harm something, plus I have a leak toward the back of the exhaust. Could this harm anything? And if so should I order another exhaust asap and port the wastegate so I don't creep hard?

Hollow out the cat if it's falling apart. It will clog up on you, and you'll suddenly have no power. You could also end up with pieces rattling around your mufflers if they break off. If you still have a pre-cat, and you're using the stock intake/TID, boost should still be under control. The ECU has the built in safety of fuel cut at 8.6 psi if you were to overboost. It's harsh, but effective and better than a blown engine.
