I have an idling and white smoke problem

So recently I got smashed on my driver side headlights it dented my fender and my bumper, and my headlight, I drove it home perfectly but it was having some problem idling every time I stopped the rpm would drop up and down.

I believe the car had a vacuum leak because even before the accident happened the rpm would jump up and down in the morning when I started it up, but after the car finishes warming up like 5-10 minutes later it would be fine.

Okay so the next morning I started up the car perfectly fine but it still had the warm up problem, This time I didn't let it warm up all the way and drove it up to my driveway, I turned off the engine and it made a weird noise. I didn't bother to start it up again though, couple hours later when I tried to start it again it wouldn't start so I took my battery to work and recharged it when I came home i put the battery back in and cranked up the car and the RPM went crazy it start jumping from 3,000 to 100rpm, a lot of white smoke was coming out of the exhaust and white smoke was also coming out of the engine. I have no idea what is going on now I was wondering if anyone can help me please  :(

sounds like you coolant seals went.

ShiftDownx 08-09-12 11:52 AM

I'll check that out too! But yesterday I started it up again and played with it a little more, now its blowing out black smoke from the exhuast, everything starts up but the car does not run, the max rpm is 5000 the clutch wont catch, the Car Idles at 100

I made a video I'll post it soon thank you please help :(

black smoke is carbon. and if your clutch wont catch at all, then your clutch is probably toast too. that or something is stuck. not sure. but the idling thing im not sure. could be anything. apex seals went, computer is fried, could be anything. does your car have a hook up for diagnosis?

if this is an FD sounds like the front harness got smashed to me, the MAP sensor wiring runs through the front main harness and has a tendency to do this when the MAP sensor goes offline.

if it's an FC then it is likely coincidence and probably is a coolant seal that went after the accident.

Heres the video, and if anyone knows how to take out the seatbelt sensor can they please help me its driving me nuts ahahah

I'm pretty sure its not just coolant :(

I fixed it now sorry

Video should be able to watch now

CALPICO 08-10-12 07:30 PM

assuming its not street ported or anything... it sounds like a compression issue...

euler 08-10-12 07:33 PM

Where is the clanking coming from? Is it just from the engine almost dying or can you hear it in a specific spot even when revving the engine?

jfolsom28 08-10-12 07:34 PM

I have the samw problem

Which clanking?

euler 08-10-12 07:42 PM

Just when it's idling, it has a clunking noise, but I think that is just like when it's nearly quitting. Mine is making a clanking noise and I just wondered if you might be hearing something similar.

I'm pretty just it because it's just dying yeah :/

Ok thanks.

Do you have any idea by looking at the video? :(

joelkarlonas 08-11-12 09:22 AM

if your coolant goes low, ya ticked. therefore its bad coolant seal, which driving up a hill without it being warm at all is enough to make that slut cheating girlfriend of a rotary engine decide to leave this earth and fuckitself

Panameno 08-12-12 06:58 PM

seems like its time for a new engine or rebuild.

RX7SpiritR 08-18-12 12:26 AM

Is it stock? Mine had a similar problem and it turned out to be my map sensor harness, but i have an FD pfc and 3 bar map sensor.

genefc3 08-19-12 01:30 PM

u might have blown apex seal...
try doin compression check

bpdchief 08-19-12 09:50 PM

Sounds like blown apex seal on one of the rotors. One rotor is probably fine. That's why it starts and runs but idles like crap.

ShiftDownx 05-05-13 11:11 PM

The intake sensor was unplugged lol

JimmyJackson 05-06-13 01:39 AM

dark smoking is carbon. About the idling thing i m not sure. could be anything. Main head closes right , computer is fried, could be anything. does your car have a connect for you know if some one may want to just go for a quick analysis.

Sputnik7 05-06-13 11:01 PM

Sounds a whole lot like you blew a seal, but trouble shoot it from the potential harness as the others are saying. It sounds like mine did when I lost my rear rotor. And mind you I wasn't doing anything too crazy, so crazier things have happened. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you just grounded/shorted out the MAF harness.
