I had the same problem. I overhauled the nikki, it had a great amount of dirt and rust. Now it Idles quite better. Make sure you change the fuel filters.

thanks! sorry for the late responce_ i was told i am able to drive without my airfilter because its a carb. that make no sence to me but just wanted to bring it up. I have to upload the pictures i have taken. I have line's missing, lots of stuff unplugged, i taped the end close due to not being able to find a hose or large enough screw to seal the ends, the car drive's fine, a lil boggle not much very little. I am thinking taking off the rats nest just to clear up all the missing connections. I am fine without the A/C maybe not my lady but what can a car guy do...lol

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i forgot to ask, how can i tune my timing!!! i think she i off alil, i tune the carb ahe site @ 750 !! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS, but at the same time a lil rich not as bad as before. I check the connection between the header and downpipe, it looks bad, so i think she is leaking from there, the the smell is strong from under the firewall.

Being carbureted or fuel injected has nothing to do with using an air filter. You donot want dust or any other large particles running through the engine.

The rats nest are vacuum lines.... they don't have anything to do with the AC

What is needed for me to tune my timing?

Kentetsu 05-11-09 12:01 PM

Instruction. Start by looking in the 1st gen section for details. Do you have a timing light?
