how to replace the fuel pump on an fc???
 

Trying to replace my fuel pump but cant figure it out, i got the cover plate thing off, and i unscrewed the thing beneath it where all the hoses and wires lead into but i cant get that thing off, please help

If you got the 8 phillips screws off and the 2 big hoses(top of tank) and lay beneath the car and look ahead of the shield(front) you should be able to undo the clamp to the Vent that is located above the tank.
Now if you do not want to go that far then you can just cut the vent hose and then use a hose/hose connector to rejoin the hose back together.(It's just a vent tube so it's nothing major to cut and splice back together.)
That will allow you to pry the whole sender assembly up and out of the tank.
Do so carefully as to not bend the float assembly.
It will come up as one whole unit and you can change the pump and sock out and replace the unit again.
You may want to see about getting another rubber gasket for the sending unit to put back on when you do this.

Don't forget the lube :lol:
Kidding aside, these phillips head screws are mild steel and have been in place since 1991 at best, assuming no one has needed to replace the pump before. They will be VERY rusty after 25 years. PB Blaster is your friend here, along with a bit-type screwdriver that you can put a ratchet on for extra torque. Replacing the screws with hex head bolts (M4x0.7 thread size, 15mm long is fine) would be a very smart idea. It would be even better to use stainless steel ones here.

By your description, I'd say it has never been touched before, as was the case with my FC. A couple taps with a rubber mallet should help loosen the flange from the tank.
