how to put in clutch
I have a 1993 RX7 and I have a clutch, how do you put it in?

If you're going to try this yourself, you really, really, really need to get the FSM or the Haynes manual for that car and try the clutch replacement after and while reading the directions.
If any 3rdgen guru wants to try to answer this question in detail, please be my guest. If everyone prefers to link answers to some info depository in the 3rdgen board, that will work also due to the overly general nature of this request. However, NO "USE THE SEARCH ENGINE" ANSWERS will be allowed...I'll delete them as fast I as I see them and then research all of the other posts made by that Member for some machete action. Verstah? I am no FD expert, but I will run you through the basics.
1. You will have to disconnect the clutch slave cylinder. FD is pull type and I have no clue what that means to you. 2. You will have to take out the shifter, this should be easy. 3. You will have to drain the trans oil, be careful that stuff is awful. 4. You will likely have to remove the exhaust. 5. You will have to remove the driveshaft. 6 You will have to unbolt the trans from the engine. 7. You will have to unbolt the trans crossmember and then remove the trans. 8. You will have to remove the clutch pressure plate and disk. 9. you SHOULD take off the flywheel and have it resurfaced. 10. You should do the list backwards, but installing. This job is 10000x easier if you have a friend to help. Get an FSM, it will be your friend for torque requirements. |
also a good impact or a long breaker bar with another bar for more leverage or if you know hulk call him over to break the fly wheel nut... clutch job is easy... fly wheel nut not as easy you will need a 54mm socket or a 2 1/8 inch socket

thanx guys it def. helps. My friend is gonna do it for me and he specializes in transmission work. As soon as i finished up my research on putting the clutch my face looked like this O_O

Its actually a really good intro to working on cars. Its a tough job when you first do it. But you learn a whole lot and your confidence level rises after completing it.

clutch job takes time and it helps to have a lif but if you dont it can still be done but its more pain in the ass,to keep on laying under the car,its an awsome experience
