How much should i be looking to pay for an FD3S roller?

i Dont have enough posts to view the classifieds section so i figured id up my post count by asking it here? what range of price should i be looking to pay for an fd roller. By that i mean, evrything is there minus engine, tranny, ecu, (basically the drivetrain). Both salvage and non salvage? what have you guys seen them go for in recent times? Thanks for any input.

i would never buy something salvage....... 1 if you have full coverage on it youll never get much back from it from the beginning period because of that.... i wouldnt pay much more then 3k for a FD roller..... a clean one. iv seen them from time to time 3000-5000. i actully know of a few rollers here in SD. one is a wide body.

Lol thanks mister. I was goin to save up for a full stock fd but I couldn't resist this buy. Kind of an impulse buy lol but too good to be true in my mind

Firbirdgta 01-09-12 09:16 PM

Well I paid 7200 for a running car in decent condition.

tacoboy1503 01-10-12 04:32 PM

You should PM me some links or number. Great post OP. I'm considering a shell too. Could def. use the extra cash saved to get a different motor. Although I do just want to jump in one and take it for a spin.

im in the same boat i would like a runing car but i have had other cars as shells and they came out great have about 8500 saved so far looking for a clean fd

I guess it depends on the condition of the roller. But it seems these have come down a bit. I will be looking for one this june. I would say between 2k-5k.. Good luck ..

Prices vary greatly by location and some of the highest prices will be here in California. In my experience, good rollers (full interior & blown or missing engine) run about $5-8k. FD's with an auto transmission tend to be cheaper. People buying FD rollers for $1,000-3,000 is not the norm, especially in Southern California, and I wouldnt hold my breath trying to get a nice one at this price but deals are out there.

It all depends on what your plans are for the roller. Are you looking at building an FD you can comfortably drive your girlfriend/wife in without exhaust fumes penetrating your hair and clothes or a crazy track car with no interior? If your plans are for the latter, you can find some without interiors, ugly paint, salvage titles, etc. for cheap. Whatever your plans are for an FD, always buy the most complete one you can afford. A cheap FD is an expensive FD.

Well it depends salvage or not salvage. If has upgrades or not but usually ...from 2 to 6
i just bought mine few days ago with ..
wheels
inyercooler
Bov greddy
new oil coolers
tein suspension and more stuff tha I dont remember now ...
I pay $4000. And the problem is tha the motor is overheating :'(

im also in the same boat i found a dude that has one for sale for like 4,500, and I'm just saving up shipping money, after that it'll sit in my driveway as i fabricate the interior, and clean it up a bit, then when i gather some more cash I'm gonna go to the local JDM dealer and get a fresh 13b with less than 30k on it, i plan on getting it rebuilt, a mild street port or maybe even a bridgeport not sure on that yet though.. any opinions? and usually a roller goes from $3-6k. and it all depends on how your going on with it.

Dysfnctnl85 01-19-12 03:27 PM

I paid $1200 for mine. It needs paint, but it also had 2 sets of interior pieces. Sold everything I didn't need and more than paid for the initial cost/transport of the chassis.

Im not sure about California but here in western Canada my buddy picked up a clean one for 2gs

ghostofnyc 01-21-12 09:25 PM

Bonestockrotary 01-22-12 08:15 AM

This thread is a few months old but maybe someone will respond, I found a FD roller, its a few colors, has no title but has paperwork to get a title since its out of a junk yard, no drive train, most of the interior is there but ALL dissasembled, and asking 3k, any opinions on what I should honestly pay for this thing?

Gringo Grande 04-19-12 11:21 PM

What are you looking to do with it? Turn it into a car you can drive on the street? Then hell no don't buy it.

Parting it out? Depending the condition and what is inside, no more than $500.

Long time members see it over and over again...a dreamer (not saying this is you) buys a roller for 3k-5k thinking it will be easy to turn into a running car. Most end up parting it out. If you buy a roller, you better have another 10k to sink into it...and never buy one without a title.

Good luck.

k4killer 04-20-12 12:45 AM

I heard a guy on here got a fully caged shell.
With all the parts to do a 20b swap for $500.

Anything is possible, its just about patience and timing.
