How to get A/C cooling on a FD

I was wondering if my air conditioner is not blowing cold air because of the car running so hot?

If your car is running so hot the A/C is ineffective you have bigger problems than an Air Conditioner.
It's more likely if your car is running normally and not overheating that you need your A/C system pressure tested and refilled with freon.

The A/C compressor will not turn on if the pressure in the system is too low.

How hot is the engine running? You need a decent aftermarket temp gauge. The stock temperature gauge should be ignored as it's not linear. Then worry about AC.

What should be the main gauges to get?

And when you say temp gauge is it water, oil, or engine?

Most owners monitor engine temperature using a coolant sensor. IMO it's also an easier installation and easier/quicker reference.
