How do I hand crank?
It's time to lube up the seals,
I've sprayed some oil into the spark plugs and now need to crank it over... Can I just use the key/starter with a couple quick blasts to spin it over? If not, how do I hand crank a 12a? |
Since no one's answered and I couldn't find the info online,
Here's how: Easiest way is to remove the fan and the fan shroud. A ratchet and socket is fine for the shroud though I can't remember what size to use. For the fan itself, a pair of 10mm wrenches and extenders will work wonders as there is not enough room to get a ratchet in there. From there, place the appropriately sized socket on the crank pulley and, with your ratchet, start cranking! Note: make sure car isn't in gear. If engine isn't seized, it should turn over pretty easily! |

What is your question if you know the answer?
|
the main pulley has a 19mm nut on the front that you can attach a socket to.

It was a question at first but since it took two days to approve thread I went out and figured it out myself. I'm usually very nervous working on cars so I don't like trying things without instructions.
Just thought someone else would appreciate the info if they're as unsure as I am. |
u can actually turn these engines by hand, no wrench needed.

Ah. Okay. Glad you found the information :-)
