Housing/Rotor repair?
Hey everyone, I have an '83 FB with a 12A that I just comp. tested at about 60psi per rotor:icon_tdow
I'm going to open it up soon to do a rebuild, and I was wondering if there is any known way to repair damage to the rotor/housing, (Like honing a cylinder in a piston engine) or if it just has to be replaced? BTW, I searched first, but wasn't able to come up with much. Thanks! -Rotospectre |
if its destroyed/damaged, all you can do is replace the housing. but being theres 60 psi , theres a possibility that your housings are ok, or still decent enough that they are reusable

Housing/Rotor repair?
I heard/read good things about goopy's housing resurfacing combined with their seals

Awesome, so, here's the pan I've kind of formulated, I know of a couple junked RX7's that I'm going to comp. test, and if they're decent, I'll pull one and stick it in this car for now, (Because honestly i REALLY want to drive it haha, a friend took me for a ride in his the other day, and I'm in love.)
I think I know why the seals went bad. A friend drove the car and wrecked it, and sold it to another friend who drove it, and all of the sudden the seals went bad, well, I was looking at the motor yesterday, and I noticed that one of the PO's had done the OMP delete (Don't know why, but I plan on putting it back on.) and I'm willing to bet that he ran straight gas through it since he's owned it. SO, the plan is to swap the motors, and if the housing isn't too bad on the original, I'm going to give it a good streetable port and rebuild it and swap it back in. The car already has an aftermarket intake and a big ass weber carb, although I'm not sure of the CFM. Next a set of headers, and then start on the cosmetics. Any professional opinions, anything I've missed? also, I have a couple pics of the car as it sits right now if anybody is interested. Sorry for the wall of text, I'm just excited, been reading everything I can find on here.:icon_tup:  |
Just Id'ed the carb as a 46mm webber IDA, not sure about the intake... look familliar to any of you?
