Helping a friend try to start 13b

What are the minimum sensors/needed components to get an engine to crank?
We're having a hard time with an auto S5 wiring harness and manual s3 engine.... Duplicate connections and some that go nowhere. :(

first off there is no 12b. second u'll need the harness for the engine used. the s5 is 13b and the s3 is 12a. s5 uses a CAS while the s3 uses a distributor. s5 is fuel injected 6 port while s3 is carbed 4 port. now my question is, what is this going in? we need more info bout what ur working on.

Sorry, I fat fingered the title. The shell is an s4/5 I don't remember. It was an automatic with the wiring harness and everything. He ordered a 13b turbo engine to drop in.
The engine is in and the wiring harness/ecu that was shipped with it. Our problem is running into wires that are left from the wiring harness that was in the shell either doubling or not matching up to the new harness. So I was just trying to figure out what sensors need to be plugged in to at least turn the engine over.

well i'm not too familiar with the fc but from what i have read on the site if ur going turbo it's best to just get a TII from the start as it's a real pain to put turbo engine into an n/a body when it comes to the wiring. if u just want to turn the engine over just wire up the starter. all u need is fuel(power to fuel pump) and spark(power to coils) to get it running. if u don't have one get a copy of the FSM.
