Okay, so the turbo ii build is coming along slowly. But surely. Finally had time this weekend to rip into the car a little. Replaced toasted plugs, freshened the oil and all the fun stuff. Found my exhaust is shot. Expected that for a 30 year old car. So, starting with buying my downpipe. Do I get a 2.5 or 3" catless downpipe? Any preference? Thanks in advance! PS, raced a "tuned" WRX so he says , beat him with my cat cutting out my power the whole time. Score. As for him being a sore loser, boo.

get OEM sized exhaust or else you'll have to port your wastegate also unless your into take the turbo off

Boost creep. And no, a boost controller won't help.

Uh, 25. Which matters why? After pulling 4 times, I heard the excuse of his tune, and "running like garbage" and that his maf readings were way too high. Something's obviously wrong with his "tuned Cobb WRX" because I shouldn't have won. Just sayin'. My car has a long ways a head, but knowing how to actually drive a car can be the deciding factor on winning or losing too.

You own a sports car. It wasn't designed for simple straight line performance. Yet you think acceleration makes a fast car. And worse, you street race and think that requires "knowing how to actually drive".

Sarge, we're in the new members section...cut her some slack. While I don't disagree with you, this section is supposed to be like one of those liberal arts college safe places where they let you pet puppies when you feel sad :)

Kayval, if/when your car is actually fast (we tune Subarus, and I can tell you a Cobb off the shelf map car is not fast) we have a dedicated section on this forum for posting race results and videos. Track, street, etc. If nothing else, you might find it an enjoyable section to peruse around.

Oh I did. We're actually in the new member technical section. I addressed and confirmed a response to her technical question. She opened the door on the rest...but point taken. As a (now retired) EVOC instructor I'm maybe a little more sensitive to that issue than most. I need a puppy.

Just have to figure out what your intentions would be..to keep it stock or modify the car which is what is going to happen once you start fooling around with the exhaust etc..
Replacing the exhaust with a bigger more free flowing set up will allow the engine to run differently..BUT the ECU is a SET ECU and not tunable..so that is where the problem lays..
If you replace one component and don't back it up with other vital parts needed to support that modification then in the long run you are going to run into problems.

Since I was basically in the same boat you are now,.I Personally went over a LOT of threads posted by guys Modifying their cars with parts.This is for the build that I did.It was a Fast car!
In the end I picked What Worked,fed it into my so called budget and went with it.
I made 357hp on a stock S5 TII engine.(no internal mods but a lot of "slap on parts"..NEW Engine management system and a Dyno tune.).

You gotta realize that adding parts means that they ALL have to work together.If you add ONE..it doesn't cut it..

I'm sorry for whatever issues I had seemed to cause. This is my first rotary build , but not my first rodeo. This is why girls don't get involved in car related hobbies , or even join a forum because of feeling ganged up on, over something that may have been misguided or misunderstood. I'm not saying that a shelf map of a Cobb tuned car is fast. I've been around enough cars to know what decently acceptably fast is , and his car NOR mine is "fast". But doing a pull against someone who says they'll beat you hands down, and loses, amuses me and just thought I would share my excitement. I never stated driving in a straight line meant you knew how to drive, trust me I do know this. I didn't mean any trouble. I just have certain questions and concerns about my new turbo ii and thought this would have been the best place to come.
