Help with oil cooler
 

Thinking of gettin a new oil cooler, cant be buggered fixing the leaks in this one.
Thinking PWR... any help would be awesome!
Also any tips on how to get the bloody thing out!!

whoops newbie mistake..
1989 rx-7 s5 NA and stock as a rock (Australian)
just really wanna see what people know and heard about the different brands out there, quality and whatnot.

what kind of leaks would you be having from a stock oil cooler? are the lines leaking or is it just the oil cooler itself? The stock 86~91 rx7 oil cooler is very rarely replaced (usually only done so in applications where smaller twin coolers move out to give room to a larger intercooler or Vmount setup). On a bone stock FC, you wont beat the stock oil cooler. In my opinion, you could find a stock replacement oil cooler, and if you needed to, get a set of stainless lines to replace the stock oil cooler lines.

+1. A leak from the lines is often mistaken for a leaking oil cooler. Replace the lines instead.

its dripping like a leaking tap at the bypass.. and around the outlet (top hole) theres a build up of oil. Like you said the lines could be leaking, but i know the bypass cap is too.
I'll look into how much replacement stainless lines will be over here (Aus) might be the way to go.

Hmm, yeah replace teh lines with stainless and find a new crushwasher for the bypass and see if that fixes things. Seems like after all these years, unless someone has pulled the oil cooler off previously, that the copper crush washers at the banjo bolts have corroded enough to allow oil to seep passed.

loosened up banjo bolts and bad crush washers could look like a bad cooler leak,..but is not.
crush washer size is 18 mm by the way.

Im gonna replace the crush washer 1st then give it all a clean up, drive it around and see if theres signs of leakage
