Help Identifying Engine
 

Hello!

My name is Levi and I recently purchased an rx-7 with a confusing back story. Its a 1990 RX-7 FC GTU. On the side of the car, it says turbo, but the engine is N/A and the previous owner said it was supercharged. Currently, it is N/A. So I'm not sure if it is the stock engine or not. I have a couple of pictures. If someone could I identify what engine it is exactly I would really appreciate it! I can take more pictures if needed, but I have it torn down currently.

Intake

You have a 6 port non turbo intake manifold. To know if the car was originally a TII, you would need to look at the vin. If it were a non turbo car originally the vin would start out with JM1FC331.... If it were a TII originally, the vin would start out with JM1FC332....

Hey! Thank you for that information. Very helpful. It does start with JM1FC331. Does that mean that it probably is the original engine? seeing as how it is non-turbo currently.

It could be the original engine. However, it was definitely a non turbo car originally. They definitely painted the housings are those are not painted originally. It's possible that someone rebuilt that engine and painted the housings or that they swapped in another engine that was rebuilt and painted.

So what is a sure-fire way I can tell what engine it is exactly? Do 13b's have block numbers? Some other way of identifying them?

the stamp on that one rotor housing is from the Mazda reman program in the late 80's-early 90's. so that engine (or that rotor housing) was in a Mazda reman in 1994

the F on top means it is a Front, the Rear will have an R, as you'd expect
