I have a 91 vert s5 tll.Did a tune up plugs wires fuel pump cleaned fuel injectors new fuel filter.
Now it starts when it wants when it does idle it has black smoke coming from exhaust. Then when i raise the rpms up it has no boost and it wants to shut down untill i stop giving it gas.

Sounds silly but make sure you placed the plug wires back on the correct plugs positions (not trailing to leading and so forth).

Tried that, now it just cranks not starting now.

Are you suggesting that you did have them crossed?

And how did you clean the injectors?

Your car is equipped w/the ability to deflood, so w/key to start if you floor the pedal it should deflood the engine in case that was a problem.

Wires were put on correctly, could be flooded I'll check that.injectors were taken apart and screens were cleaned ran and drove fine before these problems occurred.Due to being laid off i have to figure out everything myself.it also didnt run rich before.

Did you replace the pump and if so what replacement did you use?

moore1 07-28-14 06:54 PM

It's a walbro 255.

I de believe that fuel fump is way to much for the stock FPR, why did you go with that vs. a stock pump? Your engine is a N/A, that pump is for 250+ hp

It's a T2 and thats what was in there when i bought it when it ran.could it b the AFM

My bad, i missed you said it was a turbo vert, just saw the vert. It could be tge AFM, but its unlikely that it crapped out on ya in the time to do a little tune-up. My next step would be renting a fuel pressure tester and see what it reads, cause it sure sounds like the engine is eating to much fuel. Did you by chance check/change the timing at all? Adjust/chexk the TPS?

lduley 07-28-14 09:20 PM

Another possibility is, no offense to your abilities, but when you took the injectors apart, its possible you may of damage them, one of them could be stuck open and giving you these symptoms

moore1 07-29-14 05:49 AM

Tps hasn't been hooked up since i got the car but still ran fine.injectors were cleaned the day after i got he car cause they bypassed the fuel filter and it drove fine for two months.we hooked up led lights to injectors none were stuck open.timing was never messed with

lduley 07-29-14 08:19 AM

if your running the stock ECU, it needs to sense the TPS for fuel delivery. I believe with it unhooked the ECU thinks the pedal is smashed.....satch will chime in again and tell you for sure

moore1 07-29-14 09:11 AM

Yes stock ecu but It's a Frankenstein engine lol may need to find a member to donate their time and help me figure this car out.i'm in Burl.co.N.j if u know some1

This is correct. If you unplug the sensor the car will think you are running at wide open throttle. How about plugging in the TPS and setting it correctly and see if doing something normal will actually help the situation. The Green/Red wire needs to read 1 volt w/key to on after the engine has been completely warmed up which is equivalent to a 20 minute drive.

A couple wires r cut so i may need a new one,i will reply with symptoms this up coming weekend hanks guys
