My first Rx7 bought it for 1K.. Will start but smokes like crazy.

Nifty.

What colour is the smoke?

Does it smell sweet?

Does it continue to smoke the entire time it runs?

White and yes it smells sweet and it smokes the entire time I can get it running...

Are you losing coolant?

With the car stone cold, remove the coolant filler cap and start the car. Look into the cooling system...do you see a steady stream of bubbles coming from inside the engine? Now rev it by grabbing the throttle body. Do the bubbles increase or does coolant gush out? If so, then you are probably looking at a bad water o-ring.

The bubbles seem to just increase. It is not losing coolant but I'm a newb at this so I don't know if I'm doing it right

What do you think this could be? Will I ever be able to drive my sweet ride?

I can't wait to get this bad boy on the road!

Is the car really hard to start after its sat?
Either way sounds like a blown coolant o-ring.

A good friend and mechanic with rotary experience came over today and he said it was most likely the coolent o ring just like you said... He is coming back tomorrow with a trailer to take it to his house to fix. He said he will basically charge me for parts and a little labor. What can I expect this to cost me?

He is a good Guy I have known for 10 years... I trust him and want to make sure he gets paid what he deserves. How much would a job like this cost?

if you are lucky between 175 and 375..if not then a total rebuild is about 1600.
