full coilovers
i have an fc and wandering what kind of coilovers people have success with for drifting?
What is your budget? That's the best place to start. I'm sure some of the FC Dorifto guys can help you from there. No use in suggesting a 3k set of coilovers if your budget is $800! =)

coils
Id recommend stance coils for a drift setup, they are built well and can handle the abuse day in and day out. GL
Very good point haha, my budget is around 1000. Ive looked at the stance and they seem really good thanks for the suggestion.
for $1000 you can get almost any..try some D2 Racing Rs coils..REAL aggressive and stiff
you cant go wrong with a good adjustable springs and shocks, its cheaper too
EZ street for cheap. BC or used bilsteins..
I have stance on my other car and i love them.
STANCE! lovely. (=
i have megan racing coilovers. i havent had too many problems with them yet. and if anyone knows anything about them that could cause my problems in the future, please let me know
I'm on Apexi' N1 PRO Coilovers.
They're great, but I might be trading/selling them soon. Still debating on it. Anyone want to trade or buy them? Haha. |
bc racing has been fine for me...i dd them too
I'm using some (generic) coils on my car. I'm nowhere near pro and spent $550 on them NEW. they are 32 way adjustable and work perfectly for me. no need to blow a couple grand in the novice stage

I just ordered megan tracks today. and plan on drifting with them. Once i have some experience with them i will share. I also debated on which ones to buy and looked on here for info. I know the Drift Union fc uses them so they should work for me lol
A'PEXi S1 dampers are very competitive for drifting and in fact were used right out of the box on their Formula Drift FD3S without any additional valving or spring rate changes. The S1 which are made in Japan can also be very pricey so therefore the N1 ExV (assembled in Taiwan to Japan specifications) is available as a cost-efficient option.
FYI: They also offer a full rebuild service here in the States and utilize a shock dyno for custom set-ups. |
The megan tracks are a nice entry level coilover... they havent exploded yet.. the quality is acceptable .. the ride is....... acceptable lol.. they get fairly low if thats what your going after. I havent messed with damping too much yet. Set them in the middle and my insides havent been jarred out.

get stance coilovers
I made very good experiences with coilovers performed by TEIN. I used a Tein Flex for my drift car. Itīs fully adjustable and the most important - it can handle it and you can order any spare part singular so you donīt need new coils when a seal is blown. Price could be aroudn 1400$ though but even slightly used ones are still great.
I'm going to be getting pbm
i have an fd, but... ive used tein on all my cars and love them
Stance or BC. You can order custom spring rates on the BC's and they will valve the shocks accordingly.
Tein sport strut is all you need. Anything that has an adjustable coil will work.
Ive heard many good things about bc racing coilovers. i have a set on my fd and love the adjustability and build quality, really good quality for quite a bit less than comparable tein coilovers.
i've had quite a few coilovers for mine, here's my thoughts (and i actually drift my car)
most of these coilovers (i think all, iirc) are 9k/7k spring setup. in general, springs are springs, it's the dampers that really set different coilovers apart. stance gr+pro - too stiff, doesnt squat even on full soft. great for being slammed and that's about it. apexi s1 - GREAT! tons of adjustability, rebuildable in the states. does not go very low, only S1's are available for FC making them a bit pricey tein super street - very soft, great for street driving, awesome grip but when running no sway bars too much lean for drifting powered by max - also very stiff, goes super low, better adjustability than stance bc racing br type (my current setup) - i got these expecting low quality but they're actually great. better adjustability than stance/pbm, goes both stiff and soft. goes low. all around great coilover if you have the money, get apex'i s1's. if you're on a budget, bc racing are great for the price |
