OK so i have never owned a rotary before and I am told that you should either use premix gas or add 2 stroke oil to your pump gas but whats the mix rate? I have searched the forums before posting this and did not find it. If this is a redundant post please just link me to the previous post. But I just dropped and cleaned my tank on my 87 and will need fresh fuel when i get the motor back in. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Premixing it only necessary if someone has disabled/removed the oil metering system. If it's still in place, you don't have to premix.

If it's gone, you absolutely must premix 2-stroke oil into your tank. I believe the most common mix rate is 1 oz. per gallon of fuel. There is a pile of info on this forum if you're looking for more specifics.

Any TC-W3 2 stroke oil should work just fine, and most people that I have seen use 1oz per gallon. Some use less but me being new Im just following the crowd myself and using 1oz per gallon.

What if the oil metering system just doesn't work... and can you mix it after you already fill up the tank?

i have read somewhere that the latest fd models had smaller holes in the housing for the oil from metering pump to dont get empty when the engine "vacums" at the let off of the gas pedal is this true?also a moded car at about 500 hp can still have the factory metering pump or will need bigger quantities of oil,so will need premixing too to suport the metering pump?

"Doesn't work" & "isn't there" would put you in the same situation.

Don't dump oil into a full gas tank. Unless you like clouds of smoke. Add it before adding gas.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but the metering oil systems work for 2 reasons: the pump turning & metered air forced in through the top of the "injectors". They're not supposed to see vacuum.

Engine power is not tied to lubrication requirements. But if the car is used on the track, frequent high RPM running warrants extra premix or a little premix on top of the metering system.

I took off the metering system on my RX7 that is used for road racing. One less thing to break. I follow the the 1 oz premix to gallon rule and have never had issues.
