Fuel injector question
 

Hi guys,

So my 86 rx7 has some bad fuel injectors, I bought the bypass from Mazdatrix this summer to get me by and over winter I want to replace them. I keep hearing how expensive they are to get from the dealer so I am looking online. I have searched the wiki and learned that my 86 NA 13b needs 460cc low impedance injectors.

However my question is this, from parts geek website.... Will these injectors work for my car? They are like $60 a piece or some options for the $32 ones.

I just am confused if they will work or if there is something special about our injectors I am missing.

I'd just get them cleaned as they rarely ever go bad.

That link says there is a core charge if you buy them,meaning you have to send them your old ones and that adds to the cost of replacing them if you do not send your old ones in to them.

However, what if mine are leaking? That would be more than just "cleaning" would it not?

Yes, if yours are leaking it would require more than cleaning. You may just be able to just replace the rubber seats the injector sits inside of to solve the problem, depends on how it is leaking. If you mean "leaking" extra fuel into the motor that is a different issue

Most places you send injectors to cleans AND rebuilds IF they need it, its always a worthwhile investment

Correct ....when I say leaking I mean extra fuel into the motor. Before I bought the Mazdatrix bypass it would flood easily. This was a temp fix.

That mazdatrix kit is a band-aid, it even says so on their site. When it comes to hard starting due to flooding its usually 2 things, a leaking injector, or compression is getting low. A compression test is easier AND cheaper than messing with the injectors just to find out your motor is tired

I'd say compression test first, then if that checks out, send out the injectors for inspection

Clearly its a band aid... I even stated that i used it go get me by till winter. Hence why I am fixing the problem now. BTW... Since when does a motor flooding have anything to do with compression? The two are completly different. The compression of a motor does not at all corelate with a flooded engine. It may make it harder to run but its not the cause. I no that my injector (s) are leaking.

So if your done tryig to sound like the smartest person here and want to offer other advice, great. If not, bye.

Not what i was going for, throwing suggestions out there because flooding and compression can be linked together, we're all in this together, not solo

Biting the hand that feeds you will not go well around here.

Iduley is spot on when he says check the compression as it would give the same symptoms as a bad injection system due to the car not wanting to start up right away.
Lowering the fuel rate with your "band aid" would help the car start in both cases.
