Is it not possible to get a new thermostat for it?

Sounds like a lot of work.

Any reason why you've bypassed the thermostat? It's just going make your car take ages to warm up.

Not sure why it'd cause rich start ups though. The ECU will correct your fueling based on coolant temp, but regardless of whether your bypassing your thermostat, your start up temp should be the same? Or have you bypassed the coolant sensor too?

If "by-passed" means eliminated, then a significant amount of coolant is also by-passing your radiator and going straight back into the engine. I'm with the others. I'd probably stop by-passing things.

Are you saying you are trying to fix an Opel Corsa? This site is for Rx7s. Regardless, you shouldn't run without a thermostat.

Why would you bypass your thermostat?
