How do I change the fog light bulbs? There are 3 screws in the front but I cannot figure out how to get the cover off to get to the bulbs. Any help would be great, thanks -Alex

I am assuming you have a 2nd generation rx7. There are TWO screws that hold the foglight assembly in place. One on the left and one on the right of it. Unscrew them and the whole foglight housing will come out.

The bulb will pop off from the back. It uses an H3C bulb, which is not a common bulb. Your can use a regular H3 bulb with a little modification. You basically take the single pigtail from the H3 bulb and put it into the wiring harness of the car, and take a wire grounded onto the metal body of the foglamp housing and connect that to the other point on the foglight harness.

I used the h3 bulbs and used a wire but I think I blew a fuse because they worked for 30 seconds and then went off and wont turn back on. but the headlights still work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What type of bulbs did you use? What wattage and brand? A lot of the cheap ebay bulbs are nothing but trouble and will cause more harm then good. Just go to your local parts store and pick up some sylvania h3 bulbs if thats the case.

Also, make sure you properly grounded the wire to the housing of the fog lamp like the picture shows. I have a feeling you didn't make proper connections and ended up shorting the wires, possibly. Did you at the minimum use crimp connector ends on the wire?

Not sure about the fuse, but the fuse box is in the driver's kick panel area. You need to remove the kick panel (right next to the clutch pedal). There should be a fuse in there for the fog lamps, but I have never had to look for it so I can only speculate.

If making the wire is too much for you, I suggest you just order the H3C bulbs and go with those.

Thanks. I ended up talking to my buddy who is good at this stuff and he hooked me up with the materials to make the wires the right way. I wired it up just like in the tutorial. The bulbs I used were Piaa h3 plasma ion yellow. I did check the fuse box. It was blown. I replaced the fuse with a new one, turned on the lights and blew the new fuse instantly. I'm going to double check my wiring I did, but I think there might be a problem with my harness. Thanks again for the help. Any additional insight is greatly appreciated.

What wattage? I wouldn't go over 55w. Another suggestion, don't use a small gauge wire for the ground portion of the circuit (the part that goes to the housing and then to the harness), that will cause problems.

the packaging says "H3 12v 55w -> 110w" As to the wire, I'm using 16 gauge according to the buddy who gave me the wire. Would you recommend a thicker gauge?

which is it, 55w or 110w? At 110watt, you will start to burn things. Why don't you buy some cheap sylvania H3's from the auto parts store and try those, remember 55w max.

I'm honestly not sure what wattage they are. I know PIAA is a good brand and I already paid somewhere around $35 for them, so I would like to use them if I can. Here is a picture of the packaging.

PIAA claims that their 55w bulbs give the equivalent light of other 110w bulbs.

If you change your mind on using the H3 bulbs, I would recommend Ebay or Amazon for some H3C prices. I got some a few weeks ago from amazon and even with having to modify the pin that holds them in, they work just fine. They were less than 1/3 the price my Mazda dealer was asking. Couldn't find them at any local parts store.
