flooding problem?
 

i hear that rx-7 have a flooding problem i have not picked mine up yet but wats the solution on fixing that

If it ever does flood, a couple of ounces of Seafoam down the carb (or in through the spark plug holes if fuel injected) will do the trick every time.

The "old way" was to use Auto Tranny Fluid (ATF). Problem is that it can be hard on the seals, and fouls your spark plugs.

-how I do it in my 12a takes about 4-5 minutes[i used to do it a lot before my carb rebuld]:

Disconnect negative battery terminal

Pull your top two spark plugs(**make sure you can put them back in right holes)

Disconnect your ignition coils- that's right- you've got two of them!! remember both ...

Turn the ignition so that all the excess feul comes out the side of chamber through the plug holes this may take about 8-12 revolutions-, you'll feel and hear air coming out**(it is highly advisable to extinguish your cigarettes,etc prior to this operation)

Re-assemble



to buld feul pressure afterwards, leave your key in the 'on' position for 20 seconds or so before cranking it.
Sometimes it requires a shot of starting fluid..or like Kentetsu said: ATF works too. haven't tried seafoam..

Flooding?
 

My FB has never flooded. Perhaps this is just a symptom of needing a carburetor rebuild. Mine is fresh.

i got a 93 fd and never had a problem with it....turbo timers work wonder for situations like that a common way to flood is to start the car and shuting it down before it has a chance to burn the fuel......there to ways to solve a flood....1st- pull the fuel pump fuse located right next to your battery crank to car over for about 10 seconds put the fuse back in and try to start..if that doesnt work...you would have to remove your spark plugs clean them up....clear the gas out..put them in and try it again....might also need to replace spark plugs

I normally dont have a problem with flooding. But when i do i drink Dos XX. No bad joke. Just make sure you let your car warm up all the way when you start it. If you dont thats when trouble happens. Mine will also flood when it sits for an extended period of time. But Im leaning towards having a leaking injector on that on.
