Float bowl runs dry, car stalls
 

Hey everyone I have a strange issue that I can't seem to figure out.
I have searched and only came up with slightly relative answers.
The Problem: I have an 83' gsl with the 12a, and a Webber IDA. When I drive the car it will run great for about 10 mins, then stall out like it's starved for fuel, I checked that I have gas in the tank, I can hear the fuel pump running (looks lime the OEM pump) and when I turn the key, my inline fuel filter before the carb fills just fine.
The last time the car stalled, I looked at the filter, and it was full of gas, but when I lifted it up, (the filter sits lower that the carb does) the gas drained down the line, into the carb, and the none of it drained back, which makes me believe the bowl is running dry. If I can hear the pump running, why would the car starve for fuel? Is there some kind of fuel pressure regulator I need to adjust? I haven't yet check the fuel pressure with a gauge.

well, if it's stalling, then you can start by making sure your filter(s) and lines are clear. filters are cheap, there's no reason not to change them if there is any question about their status.

if you got the car with the IDA on it, then you will have visually check and see exactly what parts you have and what parts you may need. check what pump you have and then move on to checking the pump's output. fuel pressure is only one component of flow, you also have to consider volume. you will want to check the bowls and see what's going on for certain, rather than speculate. i'm not sure how easy or difficult that will be with an IDA, but i'm sure i can get you help if it comes to it.

check to see if you find a regulator. all i can say is the car did not have one from the factory. if it turns out that you have one of those round dial-and-click-ones, then get something else. a gauge is a great tool, so you should probably get one.

Well I readjusted the float levels and swapped needles and seats from the SA carb... Let's just say the car is running quite well. One small problem though, the front float is still getting stuck and flooding the car causing, well... problems... As of now that's the only issue so if anyone has some sort of float unsticking avice, throw it on out here.
